You can find several schools in the state of Washington which offers paramedic training degree and certificate programs. You can find those training programs being offered at Prince George’s Community College and Northern Virginia Community College.

Paramedics are required to be certified in Washington before they are allowed to practice pre-hospital skills in the field. Paramedic certification applications and additional  information regarding the reciprocity can be found at the Washington State EMT Applications webpage. Here you can find all eight applications for the eight levels of EMS service one can achieve in Washington. Which includes First Responder, EMT-Basic, IV Technician, Airway Technician, IV/AW Technician, ILS Technician, ILS/Airway Technician and Paramedic.

EMT-Intermediate and Paramedics in the state of Washington will be required to pass and complete tests which will be administered by an approved Washington State Paramedic Program upon completion of the training program.

The requirements to enrol in paramedic training programs are:

  • You must be certified EMT
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess a CPR-card
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Criminal Background Check

During the training program you can expect to:

  • Complete 1.500 hours of training
  • Serve an internship involving clinical rotations and ambulance runs.
