Individuals interested in becoming certified paramedics in Connecticut have several options in schools. Goodwin College in East Hartford and Capital Community College in Hartfordboth offer approved paramedic training programs for students. These programs will qualify students for certification, as well as for various positions in pre-hospital care.
Paramedic is in the highest of levels of emergency medical training in Connecticut.
The levels are:
To get the basic education required to become a paramedic in Connecticut. You must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license.
In the state of Connecticut emts and paramedics are certified by the Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).
In order to become a Paramedic certified in the state of Connecticut, you must have completed and passed the emt-basic and emt-intermediate programs. You are then needed to pass the paramedic training course followed by a written exam. EMT course instructors can be found in this PDF file. You are also needed to pass the EMT practical skills exam. Practical exams are usually scheduled twice a month. Dates can be found in this form.
You will also need to be nationally certified. You can achieve that by completing and passing the NREMT exam.
