Do you want to become a Paramedic or EMT in the state of Illinois?
Paramedic and EMT training programs can be found at The College of DuPage and Southwestern Illinois College.
Illinois is among the minority of states that do not require a Paramedic or EMT to complete and pass the National Registry Exam to become certified and licensed. Illinois has instead it’s own certification and licensing examination.
Note that during the application process you must disclose whether or not you have ever taken the National Registry Exam (NREMT) before. Failure to disclose this information may get your application for an EMT license denied.
The Illinois Emergency Medical System offer students 3 different study guides for the 3 different EMT levels to help students. You can find them here for EMT Basic, EMT Intermediate and EMT Paramedic.
These study guide will provide a breakdown of the EMT exams as well as gives examples of the questions you can expect to show up during the examination.
Please look through the EMT License Application Guide for additional information.
Please check out step-by-step career road map – to help give you a better picture on the process of becoming a certified paramedic.
