Paramedic Training in Mississippi
Paramedics are the highest level of emergency medical technicians. They are usually the first at scene and are trained to provide pre-hospital medical care.
The state of Mississippi uses the NREMT for certifying and licensing potential paramedics and EMTs.
You must complete the lower level EMT courses and become certified, before you can enrol in paramedic training program in Mississippi.
There are 3 levels of EMTs:
- EMT-basic
- EMT-intermediate
- EMT-Paramedic
The Mississippi Office of Emergency Planning and Response administers The NREMT exam. The exam is used to certificate and license all EMTs and Paramedics. The exam is said to be held 4 times a year and consist of a written and practical exam. After sucesffully complete the exam the candidate may fill out the Application for Mississippi Certification.
