To becoming a paramedic in the state of Ohio you can find paramedic training programs being offered at Columbus State Community College and Cuyahoga Community College.
The Ohio EMS is responsible for the coordination of EMTs and Paramedics in the state. You must first complete a EMT basic training program and be certified, before you can enrol in a paramedic training program. Additional requirements are listed below.
Once you have enrolled in a paramedic training program and have successfully completed it. You are required pass the National Registry Exams (NREMT) to be certified and licensed. They issue licenses to EMTs and Paramedics who have passed the training programs, as well as the written and practical tests.
The NREMT consist of a two-part exam involving a computer examination and a practical multiple station skills assessment examination. The EMT Basic certification being offered in the state of Ohio is unique to most other states, since the scope of practice includes the use of advanced airway devices, ET and Combi tubes which are usually reserved to higher level EMTs.
