You can find EMT and Paramedic training programs at The Lone Star College System in The Woodland, and Houston Community College.

A Paramedic is the highest level of emergency medical technician.

The levels are:

  • Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT-B)
  • Emergency Medical Technician – Intermediate (EMT-I)
  • Paramedic (EMT-P)

Texas requires that a paramedic candidate is at least 18 years old. Applicants must also provide their fingerprints to the Fingerprint Applicant Services of Texas (FAST) for a state and federal background check

As a certification prerequisite, Texas paramedic applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED certificate.

Applicants must also fulfill the education requirements.

You must first become a EMT-B and EMT-I before you can enroll in Paramedic Training in the state of Texas.

 

Examination

Paramedic candidates are requires to pass the NREMT exam. Both the written as well as the practical.
