Paramedic Training in New Mexico

Paramedic Training programs in New Mexico can be found at the University of New Mexico and Central New Mexico Community College.

In order to enroll in Paramedic training you must first acquire the certifcations of lower level emts. The levels are:

• EMT-Basic Certificate
• EMT-Intermediate Certificate
• EMT-Paramedic Certificate

New Mexico is among the minority of states who utilizes its own licensing and certification exams and do not use the NREMT as most states do. A cadidate must have completed the training programs and must submit their EMT Course Completion Certificate.

They must pass the New Mexico state exam which consist of a written and practical exam. The state of New Mexico utilizes the pencil and paper written exam rather than the computer based one found in NREMT. TYou must also provide documentation of current and valid CPR card.

The requirements to enrol in a paramedic training program are:

• You must be qualified EMT-Intermediate and EMT-basic.
• Be at least 18 years old
• Possess a CPR-card
• Possess a valid driver’s license
